A Year Full of Affordable Housing!

New Apartment Construction at Records

2024 has been full of good news! In 2022 and 2023, New York City has broken records for new affordable housing construction in the last 5 decades.

In October, we will have our next Affordable Housing Workshop. On March 30 we held the most recent in this series of workshops, where over 120 members of the public attended. They got information and dozens of our volunteer Housing Ambassadors helped them open profiles and apply to various buildings. We also had a presentation by our volunteer Manuel Gallardo, explaining the importance of filing taxes.

This year we hosted our first Housing Ambassadors volunteer training in English, where Communications and Projects Manager Nicole Sanchez presented the New Member Orientation to NYC Service volunteers and a representative from HPD provided the training.

We thank NYC Service for joining us at the beginning of the year. They interviewed Noelia Collazo, one of our volunteers, about her experience in Fundavenyc as a senior citizen and the help she provides to others through the NYC Service portal.
